History of Mali Losinj dates back in to an ancient times, when this region was ruled by the Illyrians and Romans. However, it was first mentioned in 14th century under the name of a Malo Selo. During the 19th century, Mali Losinj has developed into one of the leading ports, and its inhabitants were known as the best sailors of the Mediterranean and especially appreciated for the skills of sailing. That was a time of the settlement's boom and the gradual development of health tourism which developed thanks to an extremely favorable climate. Losinj was declared in 1892 as a climatic spa which, despite the global development and modernization, kept till today and still offers a primeval natural beauties.
